Sash and Case Window Repairs and Renovation

Draught proofing

All timber windows require a level of maintenance to ensure they continue keeping your house both safe and warm.

Where other companies only offer a part service, we are able to restore windows to exceptional standards, our sash and case experts are trained window joiners able to not only economically repair but also dramatically improve the appearance and functionality of any window.

Our system of traditional sash and case window renovation involves completely removing the window from the case, removing all loose and flaking paint, routering out channels everywhere that timbers meet, securing double lines of concealed nylon draught proofing strips into to the channels, replacing the parting beads, and ensuring that the window is both fully operational and draught free.

We treat all windows individually and can happily replace defective sash ropes with modern British made nylon core ropes, ironmongery with solid brass items that are now also available in chromed or brushed steel effects, and even complete sashes traditionally made using preserved redwood.

If the window allows it, we can replace the glass with toughened or laminated safety glass and in many cases modern or slimlite double glazed units.

Re-pointing is available as well, your old mastic will be removed and the cavity injected with foam to cut out the loss of heat and a fresh layer of traditional mastic applied.

If you have a rotten section of your window, there is no need to replace the full window. From cills and rotten sashes to sections of the case, these areas can be repaired or replaced.

We regularly work with a recommended painting company to ensure the transition to fully restored windows is as smooth and hassle-free as possible.

Glass and Glazing repairs

Using only the highest quality materials for all of our repairs, and while we offer a board-up service we generally replace the broken glass on the first visit.

From aluminium, U-Pvc or timber: all types of glazing is covered.

We fit not only replacement float glass but also laminated and original hand-made crown glass, which is now available in laminated form for additional warmth, security and safety.

Replacement broken and misted double and triple glazed units

Unlike other companies who replace failed units with just ‘cold’ glass panes, we use the highest quality A rated double and triple glazed units as standard.

These come with a modern low emissivity coating, thermally broken Swiss V spacer bars and are filled with argon gas as standard, all to ensure the highest level of heat retention.

Our warm edge spacers are 90% more efficient than ‘standard’ aluminium spacers, minimising thermal and acoustic transfer across the unit.

Toughened Safety Glass

We install laminated and toughened safety glass, in line with the police approved ‘secured by design’ scheme for additional security, and in the case of laminated glass, warmth and noise reduction.
