Secondary Glazing
Our secondary glazing systems are designed to eliminate draughts and improve both the thermal and acoustic performances of the existing windows.
The vast variety of styles that we supply and install are guaranteed to give an ideal solution for draughty windows and those that do not eliminate enough noise.
Our standard secondary glazing consists of glass panes secured into thermally broken and draught-proofed aluminium frames, set within timber external frames.
This approach allows for double glazed units with a variety of glass types to be mounted within, or to the face of, the existing window apertures. This offers the best acoustic solution for existing single or double glazed external windows.
Available in a selection of RAL colours and a woodgrain effect, these high-spec units are supplied by Britain’s largest manufacturer of secondary glazing, and are available in a wide range of styles that are suitable for every window type.
Perfect For Listed Buildings
Fully compliant with listed building regulations, these units are single glazed as standard with 4mm glass, but can easily be specified with up to 10.8mm specialist acoustic laminate, either single or double glazed.
Options such as acoustic trickle vents, high security locks and low emissivity glass are easy to specify with these versatile units.
Types of Secondary Glazing
- Vertical sliding units, similar to sash and case operation, with sash sizes to align with the existing windows.
- Horizontal sliding units have between 2 and 4 panes that slide and interlock to provide a quiet and draught free environment.
- Polycarbonate secondary glazing is an entirely separate option that is virtually invisible within the windows. Secured with magnetic strips this simplistic system can perform as well as standard secondary glazing in terms of thermal retention, and is even more effective at reducing condensation. With 8mm optical clarity polycarbonate as standard, these shatter-proof panes are light, safe and easy to use.
DIY Kits Available
Relatively simple to fit, these units are ideal for DIY projects, but we offer a full supply and installation service to ensure the panes are precisely fitted to ensure the best possible levels of acoustic and thermal performance.
Frameless Hinged Secondary Glazing
Frameless hinged secondary glazing has it’s own aesthetic charm; available with a range of hinges these toughened glass panels essentially create glass shutters within the window apertures. Available with both toughened and toughened laminated panes.
Wide Range of Solutions
Our range of bespoke secondary glazing solutions are too numerous to detail in a single page – they vary from our securing fixed panes within the window apertures, through to installing concealed hinges within the timbers of sash and case windows to give entirely frameless and stunningly elegant units.
